Rocktober
If I had to squish this month of jamp-packedness into one photo and one instagram video...these are IT! To me it is a pure combo of resourcefulness and joy! A playful curtsy bow, the thrill of a road trip, the luxury of having my bro from Melbourne to play with me, wearing my new fave frock and freshly painted boots and about to open for one of the best Aussie bands around, The Wilson Pickers, is obviously beaming on my face. The video shows my true Mcgyver styles freely flowing. It was so popular I was requested to post it on YouTube. Who knows, you may know someone that could benefit from this tip? #strapsandwheels
Between gigs and The Viva Mexico Film festival this Rocktober has seen me in NSW, VIC, QLD and WA! ...and for goddsakes I got to meet one of my faves when I played the Americana extravaganza Comes A Time Festival in Perth... LINDI ORTEGA! (inserted proof below)
For those of you keen to follow my journey more closely I suggest my Instagram account is ideal. I'm starting to question how relevant my mailing list is nowadays as I myself am repulsed by the constant flow of spam mail....and yes, even this blog is in question. But...I'll keep posting here for now until solutions on how best to communicate with you swim into view.
My first WA trip ever was a total winner. I got to feel like a superstar for 5 minutes at the Viva Mexico Film festival. Meeting strangers that come to watch a film about you and then performing a song live for them afterwards is quite something heartwarming. I feel my love for Mexico is infectious via this film and I adore seeing how it positively affects others and inspires them to be even prouder of their Mexican heritage or as a caucasian, inspired to visit Mexico...and of course finish the night off with sublime Mexican food and Mezcal! (I highly recommend El Publico in Perth! ¡Que rico!) .
Next? I fly to Victoria next week for a string of shows. (check out the gig list below for deets). In-between all that I'm finishing the final couple of art pieces for the highly anticipated Spaghetti-Mex-Western story album. Mexican graphic designer Oscar Salinas Losada that designed my last album is bringing the magic together in the final CD design right now. For those of you that wish to purchase a pre-release copy of this limited edition run you still have time. Otherwise you will need to wait until later in 2017 (date unknown for the label copies).
