Abbie Cardwell's musical journey has been as varied and transformative as the concept of alchemy itself. A past winner of Triple J Unearthed, BMI USA Songwriting, and a notable competitor on 'The Voice,' Abbie is no stranger to the Australian music scene. Her international sojourns, accompanied by her guitar, banjo, harmonica, and ukulele, have seen her share the stage with legends like Tony Joe White, Steve Earle, Kasey Chambers, and The Waifs.

Transformative Sounds
In 2022, as the world emerged from lockdown, Abbie returned to her songwriting roots with renewed creativity. Her first single from the upcoming album Love Is An Amplifier, "Husha Husha," was praised by Henry Wagons of Double J as "forward-thinking Americana." The track, originally an acoustic lullaby, evolved into a dreamy, electronic soundscape that nudges listeners to notice life's sweet distractions.
The Rocking Title Track
The title track from the forthcoming new album, "Love Is An Amplifier," marks a new chapter in her musical evolution, showcasing a rockier side of her personality. Laid-back nylon string guitar lulls us in ( a direct nod to hero JJ Cale) then gives way to a highly contrasted rocking chorus, reflecting the depth and resilience Abbie has channeled into her music following recent personal losses. Lean in a little closer and you’ll find a dash of pop-electro seamlessly bringing opposing forces together…with love!
An Alchemical Process
The recording process for "Love Is An Amplifier" was a joyful experience for Abbie, particularly with producer Matthew Engelbrecht's addition of that powerful wall-of-guitar-sound. This new body of work blends electronic beats, Americana, soul, and dreamy pop into a cohesive soundscape, celebrating Abbie’s multifaceted musical identity.
As Abbie eloquently puts it, "Love is the only master you will ever answer to."
